Kutztown, PA…On Friday, December 11, 2015, the Board of Directors of the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce declared elected each of the following nominees who were voted in by members to a three-year term beginning on January 8, 2016: Derek Leibensperger, Funeral Director, Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg and Leesport; Dustin Adam, Financial Advisor, Edward Jones, Fleetwood; Wendy York, Director of the Health Center at Moselem Springs, Lehigh Valley Health Network; and Christine Pensinger, Plant Manager – Smelter Annex & Wire/Cable buildings, East Penn Manufacturing, Kutztown.
Derek M. D. Leibensperger, a native of Berks County, currently resides in Ontelaunee Township.
He is a Funeral Director with Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., which was established in 1935 by his grandfather. Derek is also co-owner of Peach Tree Cremation Services, Leesport, with his sister, Donna Leibensperger Parr.
Leibensperger graduated from Northampton Community College with an Associate in Applied Science, Funeral Service Education, and from Hamburg Area High School. He is a member of the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg Rotary, Hamburg Jaycees, Vaux Lodge No. 406 F. & A. M., IOOF Lodge No. 191 of Leesport, and the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. Formerly, he was a member of Union Fire Company No. 1 of Hamburg. Derek and his wife, Andrea, are proud supporters of the Berks County Animal Rescue League since the adoption of their dog Chase.
Dustin Adam, a resident of Leesport, graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 2012 with a B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science and a minor in Economics. He also earned a PA teaching certification. Since 2012, Adam has been a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. In his first year with the firm, Adam lived and worked in Seattle at the company’s headquarters. His second year was spent in his Hamburg office from which he relocated several months ago to Fleetwood. A member of the Chamber, Adam serves on the Membership and Ambassador Committees. He is also a member of the Hamburg Jaycees. Hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, and playing the guitar.
Wendy H. York has spent the last 33 years in Health Care working both clinically and administratively. She began her career as a Medical Assistant working for a private physician group, West Chester Family Practice located in West Chester, PA. The practice was purchased by the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. During this time she was recruited by the University of Pennsylvania’s Health and Disease Management program. There she functioned as an Office Based Coordinator educating providers, staff and patients on best practice guidelines for managing chronic diseases.
In 1999 Wendy became the Practice Manager of Berks Family Care located in Douglassville, PA which was affiliated with Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. After moving her practice to a new building and location, she was promoted to the main Family Practice site, Coventry Family Care. In 2005, these practices were purchased by Community Health Systems.
In 2006 Wendy was hired by the Lehigh Valley Health Network, Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) and became the Practice Manager for Trexlertown Medical Center. In 2010 Wendy was recruited and promoted to the position of Director of the Health Center at Moselem Springs. She was responsible for the daily operations of this new health care facility which opened in January 2011. Currently Wendy holds the title of Practice Director, Lehigh Valley Physician Group and is responsible for the daily operations and oversight of four Family Medicine practices located in Berks County.
Wendy holds a B.S. degree from Kutztown University. She is married to her husband Tom and they have 2 adult children, Amanda (22) and Travis (25). She resides in Douglassville, PA.
Christine L. Pensinger, Blandon, has worked for East Penn Manufacturing for 31 years. Pensinger started her career as a Materials Coordinator in 1998, and ten years later, she became an Assistant Plant Manager. Last year, she became Plant Manager, Smelter Annex & Wire/Cable Building, in Kutztown. A graduate of Kutztown Area School District, Pensinger earned 24 credits at RACC. She is certified in GSPC (Levels 1 &2), a member of Wire Association International (WAI); and a corporate member of APICS. Pensinger’s volunteer pursuits include years at the Kutztown Youth Athletic Association and the Fleetwood Boys Soccer Booster Club. Since 2013, she has served as the Treasurer of the Lyons Fire Company #1. She and her husband, Keith L. Pensinger, have one son, Wyatt, who is currently enrolled in a PA program at Kings College, Wilkes Barre.
New Board members will be seated at the January 8, 2016 meeting of the Board of Directors to be held at the Chamber Office, 110 West Main Street, in Kutztown. They will be introduced one week later during the Annual Meeting of Members on Friday, January 15, 2016, at 7:30 a.m., at Berkleigh Golf Club, Kutztown. Recognition of outgoing Board members and officers will also appear on the agenda for the Annual Business Meeting. Terms will expire on December 31, 2015, for the following: Brian Noecker, East Penn Manufacturing; Linda Horn, Lehigh Valley Health Network; and Ronald Rozansky, CPA. Deborah Berger, Hasch Daal Custom Embroidery, Silk-Screening & Promotional Items, will fill the last year of the first term of Mark Lerario, PenTeleData, who resigned effective December 31, 2015.
Russell Farbiarz, Antanavage Farbiarz, PLLC; Katherine Metrick, Kutztown Area School District; and John Scott, Santander Bank, Kutztown, have been elected to serve a second consecutive three-year term.
The mission of Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce is to be a resource and a voice for its members (and those who are not yet members) in Northeast Berks County. Membership currently numbers 240.
