Membership

Making connections is the first step towards growing your business and your reputation within the community. Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce serves the general economic trading region known as the East Penn Valley and extends to communities beyond this area to the larger metropolitan areas of Reading and southern Lehigh Valley.

Our Chamber attracts sole proprietorships, corporations, small businesses, partnerships, nonprofits, civic groups, school districts, and boroughs. For many members, beyond their interest in furthering economic growth, is a keen interest in serving the communities in which they work and live.

Membership in the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce, a smaller regional chamber, offers distinct advantages and benefits. Whether you seek to develop new business relationships, raise your business profile, attract new customers or partner with area nonprofits and school districts to promote goodwill, you will find value in our membership program.

At the Northeast Berks Chamber:

  • An investment in membership is cost-effective when compared to a larger Chamber
  • Regular networking events within a short commute of your business connect you face-to-face with our members
  • Members have developed an active business referral network
  • Our Chamber office and staff are accessible and responsive to our members
  • Business resource partners number over 250, all of which are published annually in a print Directory and a digital flipbook
  • Established in 1989, our Chamber continually assesses the value proposition for our members
  • Area consumers perceive Chamber members as reputable and favor “doing business” with them

Join us in growing our presence in the Northeast Berks region! You will definitely benefit from our partnerships and alliances to gain greater exposure within our strong business network.

Ambassadors

The Ambassador team is one of several Resource Development committees designed to support the mission of the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce and to engage new members through the many benefits of the membership platform.

Onboarding activities undertaken by Ambassadors ensure that members leverage their benefits fully, especially in the areas of marketing, public relations, and business development.  The largest percentage of the Membership is Small Businesses, and the Chamber uses its relationships and resources to effectively support its members’ business goals.

The Ambassador is one of the first connections made by a new chamber member, and he or she often assumes the role of mentor.  Engagement in the first year, especially attendance at networking activities, educational programs, or special events, is key to member satisfaction and retention.

In 2018, Penelope (Penny) Oulds, Pay Day Payroll Service, Mertztown, was appointed to Committee Chair.  Penny is a member of the Chamber Board of Directors and was recognized as Advocate of the Year in 2017 at the Annual Shining Star Awards.

Sherry Christman, Elite Business Services, Hamburg, is an active chamber member and a second-year Ambassador.  Annmarie Dallao, ARCpoint Labs of Reading, West Lawn, is a new Ambassador, as is Barbara Coffin, Berks Schuylkill SCORE, and Dan Albert, State Farm, Gilbertsville.

For more information about joining our team of Ambassadors, please call our office 610-683-8860.

Volunteer or intern with the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce

Developing business and community connections is one of many reasons that businesses large and small, nonprofits, civic organizations, school districts, and boroughs join Chambers of Commerce like the Northeast Berks Chamber, 110 West Main Street, in Kutztown. For many members, beyond their interest in economic growth is an interest in serving the communities in which they work and reside. Northeast Berks Chamber serves the area known as the East Penn Valley and extends to communities beyond this region in both Berks and Lehigh Counties.
Whether in the overall governance of Chamber operations by a Board of Directors, or in the day-to-day business of managing Chamber responsibilities, or in the planning and execution of Chamber fundraisers and networking events, or even in serving as an Ambassador to orient new members, volunteers create an essential network of support to advance the Chamber’s goals and add value to its membership program. Whether or not you are a current Chamber member, you are invited to volunteer in our office.

Immediate volunteer opportunities exist in all areas of the Northeast Berks Chamber’s business, and the staff invites adults, students, and community or corporate groups to inquire about volunteer openings for summer and fall. Opportunities include weekly office support activities; proofreading; data entry, social media, and email-marketing projects; data collection and statistical work; event planning, and reception desk staffing.

If you enjoy working with the public, want to support the Northeast Berks Chamber community, or need to complete community service hours, please call our office at 610-683-8860 to schedule a personal interview.
